Summer Reading Challenge

Treasure Valley Commonwealth is proud to have Usborne Books Consultant Elizabeth Robinson join us in sponsoring our Summer Reading Challenge.

While the main focus of Treasure Valley Commonwealth is reaching out to the homeschooling community; this will be a unique opportunity to invite your friends, family, and neighbors with children in public schools to join us for some fun activities, giving them the opportunity to mingle with homeschoolers and find we have much in common!

Details:

Cost: $5 enrollment per child or young adult

$2 per monthly meeting (June, July, August) 

Pay for a summer reading program? Why? Let me explain, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for - I want to keep it affordable but maintain the ability to create a better program. Many things that seem free actually come with a lot of hidden strings attached. I decided to create a reading program that I felt would motivate and stimulate the minds of children to not only read but to love reading and actively engage in reading inspired activities!

Challenges:

Each month will come with a set of achievable age appropriate challenges, along with a standard time tracker. Everyone, adults included, can earn points for various reading activities. There will be small prizes to be claimed with points at the monthly activities and everyone qualifies to earn a book when they have reached 60 points!

Grand Finale Book:

Parents have the option to choose a book of their (or their child's) choice for the final reward. We have partnered with Elizabeth Robinson, an Usborne Book Consultant, to provide the books. The accumulation of 60 points per child will allow each participant to pick a book priced at $10 or less (with the option of a $10 credit towards a more expensive book) from the Usborne Catalog, which will be awarded to their child at the End of Summer Award Ceremony.
